I've used my VOC to title some videos and such. There is an 8 bit
program and a GS/OS NDA, both called VideoMix, that let you select the
key colour and the transparency levels for the key colour and all the
other colours.

The normal way to use it is to set the key colour and the key colour
transparency would be set to 100% and the other colour's transparency
set to 0%. This replaces all that one colour with video and the rest
of the colour show up over the video.

Because you can set the transparency to different levels, you can
create those dim screens with a circle of normal video at a spot you
want to draw people's attention to. Set the key colour to black with
a transparency of 50% and the other colours to 100% transparency then
draw a circle in any colour other than black at the appropriate spot
on screen. This will dim all the black on screen but leave that
circle of other colour showing the regular video.

You just need to play with the options to figure out what other neat
effects you can come up with. If you are missing the software for the
VOC, you can download it from Apple's site or as a 3.5" SDK file from
