Hi,

Does anyone know when the first Mocking board sound cards, were
available for the Apple II range? My guess is from 1984 onwards?? And
where can I find more information about it and other sounds cards for
the Apple II?

Thanks,
Jeff.

For the Mockingboard, search the net for the AY-3-8910 (or AY-3-8912) sound chip (also used e.g. in MSX computers and some Sinclairs, so there's enough docs on the net) and the 6522 Interface chip (also easy to find docs on). That's basically all there is to it (unless you have one with speech). The 6522 is memory-mapped to Cx00 (x=slot Number), if it's a MB with 6 voices the second 6522 is at Cx80. The AY-3-8910(s) is/are attached to the I/O ports of the 6522s. A schematic for this attachment is on the GSView archive site I think.
