Hi,
The postion of the Power Supply does not matter for being turned on, but
the heat from it will not vent properly. This is if it is left on for a
long period in cramped space.
I would suspect the On/Off switch on the IIgs. A lot of these went bad.
With a system saver leave the IIgs and Monitor on turn off from system
saver or a power strip.
All the conections, then fuse then in the power supply.
