Re: Observation about group
Ah, Winterpeg, I remember it well!
Nothing new for the Apple II that hasn't already been done? You're kiddin',
right?
We have to do PowerPoint presentations to justify the new Mac notebook
computers that the school district sprang for. Fortunately, the computers were
a couple of months late in coming. My notebook lasted four days and then went
back to the shop for another month (Apple just don't make them like they use
too)!
We were told to use older, existing technology to complete our presentations,
so mine will be on an Apple //e. Instead of a traditional "click-click-click"
PowerPoint presentation, I'm writing what I started in my six hour PowerPoint
training day: a "stack" that will run as a program, complete with exploration,
training, and games. I won't get to use a lot of the power of Tutor-Tech --
PowerPoint just doesn't measure up, but I will get to show-off the power of the
][.
Here's my set-up:
[] Apple //e running Tutor-Tech modified so the screen images are not erased
when new pages are brought up,
[] A mouse or touchwindow (or both). The mouse is elegant. The touchwindow
is "gee-whiz, why can't my new computer do that?"
[] FOCUS IDE hard drive for quick loading of stacks and the sleek look of no
external drives,
[] TransWarp ][ for 8x processing speed (time always slows down that much when
you're giving a presentation anyway!),
[] Video Overlay Card and pinhole camera
The VOC and camera should be a fun twist! With Tutor-Tech, VOC and the
camera, a button can be placed in the stack so anywhere in the presentation, it
can be clicked and a "blue screen" can be brought up that will display what the
camera transmits, such as the presenter at the monitor or his audience. Click
again and you're back exploring the presentation.
IBM and Mac users are going to be tempted to trade their new computers for
Apple ][s when it's all over.
