Re: Castle Wolfenstein Question...

Hey Jeff,

I agree Silas has not gotten the credit he deserves.

However - his permission was sought for Wolfenstein 3D, and while he
was not acknowledged in any of packaging, he was shown the final
product and was very impressed. According to various accounts -
because Muse Software no longer existed, the copyright on the name
Wolfenstein was OK to use.

His name is also mentioned in the new Return to Castle Wolfenstein game
manual - although they get a few details wrong (they say the game came
out in 1983 - it was actually 1981, and they also combine descriptions
of Castle Wolfenstein and Beyond Castle Wolfenstein as if it were a
single game).

I am not aware of any interviews with him - and I have a fairly
extensive Apple II magazine collection from the time. I am hoping that
one of the classic gaming sites tracks him down for an interview. 20
years later - his game is still inspiring.

I tried contacting him once via email, and never got a reply.
