OK, me, too
The keyboard shortcut to 'force quit' an application is
option+command+escape. It only works when you're lucky, so you might have to
fall back on the reset button. depends on your Mac, but it's probably a
little round unidentified button the front or side of the box. On an iMac
it's on the right side with the cables.
