Well there were a lot of different proprietry hard drives and interface
cards that might look somewhat similiar to a SCSI setup but I did
recomend SCSI itself.

I'd tend to disagree. I could have added drives like the Profile, Sider, or
Vulcan to the list. Reason I didn't is that they're propriatry systems and
those drives are getting getting to the end of their expected lifespan. With
an ide or SCSI setup, if the drive dies, then you just go down to a used
computer store and pick up another. If your sider or Profile dies, you're
stuck. The interface card will likely survive, but the long term prospects
for the drives themselves are pretty dismal.
