Hi all, I have an HP4000N with a JetDirect Card in it that all the Win2k boxes print to. Is there a way to setup a G3 Desktop (Blue) to print directly to the printer's IP? I don't seem to be able to "find" the printer through Chooser. Thanks, Ben -- Ben Mihailescu System Administrator Electrical and Computer Engineering McGill University, Montreal, Canada 514.398.7467
I'm going to tease you a bit before I give you some useful advice... ;-)As a System Administrator at a large Canadian university you should know the difference between an Apple// and a Mac. This is an Apple// group and not a Mac group. In case you aren't old enough to remember, The Apple// predated the Mac line. It was concurrent with early Macs up intil the Mid 1990's. How could you be a SysAdmin and never used an Apple? ;-)
Seriously, check out the Mac groups. With the newest Apple we have two connections for pringers. If it is a serial printer we plug it into the back of the machine. Parallel printers connect to cards. If there are drivers then they work. If there aren't, then we hope the printer will work in text mode. The Mac groups should have more specific information for you about your set up there.
