The most I have paid for an older computer is a Performa 575
for $20. That included software on the HD, a CD-ROM, the
built in screen and a 250 meg SCSI HD. My IIgs's I have paid
from $1 to $2 and I paid $5 for a RamFAST SCSI card. An
eternet adapter for the Performa cost $10 plus shipping. Everythings
else pretty much was under $6.95 or best yet on $1 day. The
local Salvation Army has begun to "package" systems and
charge too much for them. The other day they wanted $50
for a Performa 575 and $49.95 for an IBM PS/2 model 30.
Otherwise they normally charge from $8.95 to 10.95 for CPU's
and monitors, $7.85 for keyboards. The best day to go is
on $1 day though where everything is a buck. They have
a new stock guy who thinks they can get more $$ out of
us and so the prices have gone up. I refuse to pay too much
for something. The other pricey item was $10 for an Apple
OneScanner with cables and software. The problem is that
the people don't know what they have and their prices
tend to appear random to me. I have picked up things with
expensive components inside for a couple of bucks and then
the next day they want $$$ for some piece of worthless
junk.
