Re: A solution?

Instead of everyone either posting inappropriately, or not, as the case may

There is a small debate going in in the "Low level format on a lisa?" thread. I have proposed three possible solutions. The new newsgroup is only one of them. Check out the post I made a few minutes ago.

I'd offer a couple of suggestions about the title of the group and it's charter. We need to take the high road with this and maintain a positive attitude. As you pointed out we really don't want to exclude people. We want to get them the best advice we can. As an example, moderately experienced Mac users who also own a lisa know they are not likely to get advice from the general population of this group (most are probably scared of us anyway). The same applies to the Mac groups as well. An appropriate title and charter would encourage people in a similar circumstance to gravitate there.

Rather than call it a non-macintosh group, why not make it a catch-all group by calling it comp.sys.apple.discontinued. This would also bring in the few 68000 type Mac users as well as the Newton users. If there is something which can be found in existing groups, a cross posted reply is certainly an option. This may even help out the Apple/// users a bit more because they would not be lumped into the same category as Apple// users.

The major reason for suggesting a catch-all group is for numbers. I'm pretty sure a minimum number is needed to create the group. If anybody wants to go through this I'd be willing to put in a couple of days per month.
