Depends on your location, I guess. Where I live, there is still one BBS
running that you could access. My library also has dialup access, which I
can use to browse their online card catalog and more.  My ISP also provides
shell access, so I can dial in with a comm program and use shell apps like
Lynx to browse the net or Pine to check my email.   You could also dial up a
friend and do some file transfers.

1200 bps is actually acceptable for text-only stuff, or small file
transfers.   I have a large collection of Golden Age computers, and one
thing that I get a kick out of is dialing up my ISP with one and FTPing some
files or going to Altavista with Lynx.
