Re: DEC Alpha drive in a GS
I tried my 2GB DEC drive on the IIgs, and the 500MB HFS partition mounted.
One caveat though: both my 1GB and 2GB units are picky about termination
on 68k Macintosh computers. On the 2GB drive, the IIgs manifested this
problem by behaving unusually sluggishly. Proper termination fixes the
problem, of course.
Sorry about not testing the 1GB unit, but it is currently in use. Hopefully
the slightly more modern drive is representative. (A note on pricing though:
the 1GB drive cost about $50 2 years ago, and the 2GB drive with enclosure
cost $20 four months ago -- Canadian. Now if only I could find the VAX the
2GB drive was originally connected to. :-)
Good luck,
Byron.
