I get the same black-and-white checkerboard pattern while powering up my
//c with 8 MHz Zip Chip installed. I assume the delay is to give you the
opportunity to push "escape" for 1 MHz.

So far I haven't come across any problems as far as program
incompatability, though one program I use, Beaglewrite, seems to disable
the 8 Mhz mode...oh, except for the alert "beep" being faster. (That's
useful.)

I don't understand this since Beaglewrite runs faster on my IIgs at 2.8
MHz. And why would the "beep" be faster but nothing else?
