There are a number of different ways to connect an iMac to a GS. I would
suggest a good starting point would be to find a cheap Mac with
ethernet. Connect the ethernet to the iMac and run a printer cable from
the GS to the cheap Mac. Run localtalk bridge on the cheap Mac and you
can network straight from the GS to the iMac. (This doesn't work if
you're running OS X.) Any old Mac with ethernet should do the job, you
can do it with an SE with an ethernet card.
Another alternative if to buy a LANceGS ethernet card. Connect the two
machines and run an ftp server on the iMac. Use gwftp or SAFE (or ftpNDA
when it's released) on the GS to transfer files. This works with OS X
too.
A third alternative is to set up a linux box. Log the GS in via slip on
a serial port. Again run an ftp server on the iMac and connect to it
from the GS via the linux box. This will also work with OS X and you
could configure the linux box to share you internet connection between
the iMac and the GS.
I have all of these set up...
Hope this helps.
