So, from all the very helpful posts here, I've solidly settled on the
conclusion that the 1978-copyright board is a Rev 4, made in January
of 1980, and is therefore definitely not an original ][ board--at
least in the sense that it is not the board first included with the
rest of the machine.
Now, I've looked at the serial number on the bottom of the case, and
it's #2067; would this mean the rest of the unit (the case and
probably the keyboard) were from '77 or '78? Then would that mean the
original board might have been a Rev 0? Because in that case I'd bet
the owner simply ordered a new board in '80 to get the additional
colors that were available on Rev 1 and newer boards (although wasn't
this also possible to get on a Rev 0 with some sort of simple
modification? Correct me if I'm wrong). Or possibly there was a deal
where one could get a new board for less than simply the Applesoft ROM
chips alone.
Am I thinking correctly on any of this?
