Yes, I am that guy, and I don't think it's possible, I know it is :). My
setup is on a Win98 PC (not Win2K) running PC MACLAN. My PC's have 10Base2
network cards. I have a 68K Mac (Q605) with a network card and AAUI 10 Base2
TXR. I'm running LocalTalk Bridge on the Mac and AppleTalk is set to
"ethernet" and my GS is running AppleShare. I _CAN_ see both my Mac and PC
from the GS !

I cannot help with Appletalk services on Win2K or NT (whatever) because I
don't _ever_ want to waste any more money on Bill's little decaying empire
:). I think that's where your problem lies. I don't have a PowerMac either
yet, but I'm working on it eventually. Possibly you can see your Win2K from
your Power Mac because of the Mac OS and AppleTalk Services combo.

Maybe you should look at PC MACLAN to see if it works on Win2K or NT
machines. Another application I have heard of is DAVE, but I think it's
harder to set up and not quiite as good.

On another note: I can also print from the PC to 2 Appletalk printers I have
on the Localtalk side. One is a LocalTalk ImageWriter II and the other I
just got 2 days ago is an Apple LaserWriter Select 360 via the AppleTalk
connector. This is only possible through the use of PC MACLAN's AppleTalk
protocol. Although I could place the Laser between my PC and Mac on
different printer ports, this approach will allow me to leave my inkjet on
my PC on the only parallel port I have working, but still have access to 2
other printers.

I assume you know that you won't ever be able to see your GS from you PC or
Mac, because the GS doesn't run as a file server. But as far as transfering
files goes, it works better than the floppy shuffle, and file names are
preserved better too. You can actually unshrink a disk image running GSHK
directly off your PC this way. Saves a lot of wear and tear on the drives.

One issue I haven't solved is connecting to the internet on the PC's modem,
and running a IP sharing application so my Mac aand other PC's can surf, I
lose file and printer sharing between the PC and Mac side of the network.
Stopping the PC's IP server doesn't fix the problem alone, it stays this way
until I reboot the PC.
