My first attempt at a BBS was on a 128K IIe with a DuoDisk.  It worked, but
it was a bit slow and didn't have much capacity to speak of (and that was
with the software loaded into /RAM to free up both floppies for messages and
files).  128K is enough RAM for any Apple II BBS software, but you'll
definitely want to add a hard drive.  Fortunately, hard drives are much
cheaper now than they were in 1990. :-) A Focus with a 40-meg drive ought to
be sufficient, and it won't cost much (by the time I got more serious about
running a BBS, my IIe had a 40-meg hard drive connected through an Apple
High-Speed SCSI Card).
