Re: Need PC to IIGS Transfer help

Kyle:
Do not be afraid to read the FAQs, without them you will ask enough questions that if answered will build a new
FAQ. Of course many people who are new to the Apple2 online world do not even know where to find the FAQs. Here
is what I think is a good starting place.

ftp://ground.ecn.uiowa.edu/apple2/Faqs/

Now having said that, I will answer the opinion questions of what hardware and software I think best.

For connectivity and transfers, I believe that a null modem transfer is easiest to set up. Get a serial Mac hand
shaking (high speed) modem cable, a serial PC modem cable and a serial null modem adaptor to hook them together end
to end.

Software for 5.25 inch diskette transfers: get ADTgs from the web and read the instructions for transferring 5.25
images back to diskette. It is very strait forward and will tell you about speed and issues youmay run in to.

For 3.5" software, I have friends with Macs that copy stuff onto 3.5 for me from the web.

Many times I have -heard- the proper way to accomplish 3.5 inch disk transfer is to use a communications program to
send the disk image file over to the GS via modems or null modem. Then decompress the disk image from there. THis
seams reasonable to me.

Good luck and let us know how you do.
Thankx,
Ed
