Once you scratch the surface, with sand paper or SANDBLASTING the plastic picks
up dirt fast. It is as if the plastic is porous almost like wood. Some of the
sand stays on the plastic or dirtys it. You wind up with the right color, but
it does not have right mat finish or semi sheen of the original. A clear or
semigloss coat of spray after sand blasting might even look better.
  Maybe if you use a large grain of sands, or had it like burnished after sand
blasting, but that might put metal powder to imbed in the plastic.


I have used D&L hand cleaner time and Time again to remove paint and Magic
Marker IDs from the cases. It takes several applications over days but it does
not hurt the plastic.

Once I left a little glob on a MAC monitor to remove a an ID mark. Monitor was
beeing used on the Net for days. When I remove it the spot was pure white. I
tried this with a few apple 2 items, apply a low heat over time (light bulb).
no luck I even tried to bake them in a microwave wrapped in paper towel coated
with D&L hand cleaner. No luck.
 Talking to a few people they thought that maybe the white color in the plastic
was removed(Bleach out) by the sun. There fore there is no white left.
  Just another far out theory.
