There is a picture of a naked Profile drive on my Apple III page at
http://www.mandrake.demon.co.uk/Apple/appleiii.html. As Wayne wrote,
the basic drive mechanism is a Seagate but it uses proprietary Apple
add on boards. You should be able to change the mech for a working one
but you will then need to low level format the drive. I have never read
an authoritative explanation of how the drive is formatted although
perhaps that might change...
