Ok gurus... another question... I scanned the faqs, and didn't find what I was
looking for (unless I was looking in the wrong place).
I have yet to get a 16-bit app running on my new IIgs.
I have a copy of IIPLUS.UNSHRINK, and Shrink-IT 3.4, both 8-bit apps.
I have some IIgs demos in .SDK format.
Both programs read the files just fine. IIPLUS.UNSHRINK has no concept of
source and destination disk swapping.
Shrink-It 3.4 does, but once it's done flipping the disks in and out a couple
times, and formatted the destination disk, it immediately comes up with a Data
Error $80 or something, and aborts the process. -- I've tried multiple SDK's
and several blank disks (all of which were verified with C][+ 8.x).
I found GS Shrinkit in BinSCII format, but it's just SEAs, and I don't have an
OS to launch them with. :)
Is there anything I can do besides wait for my 2nd 3.5" drive to show up? I
have a couple 800k mac drives (inside their macs) out in the garage, and read
in the FAQs where it discusses replacing the mechanism of the IIgs drive with
a Mac drive... but nothing about cobbling a Mac mechanism onto the chain (that
I could see) without a cable and case.... Think I could cobble something
together?
This is a ROM 01 board, no extra RAM, so the ramdisk idea is dead too.
Especially since it seems that Shrink-It 3.4 has no concept of a /RAM prefix.
Again guys and gals, I really appreciate you assistance getting me up to speed
w/ the IIgs. :)
cheers,
j
