It wasn't directly to do with Atari at all, the Amiga was developed by a
company called (ready for this?) Amiga. =-)

No, Jack got the in-house Atari designers to come up with it - he'd
wanted Amiga to beat Commodore around the head with for kicking him out
but they nipped in and nicked it off him.
