I wouldn't be too surprised to see that. -
I just did a little poking around to check on prices of Motorola 68020
and 68030 CPUs, just to see how they would affect the cost of a $300
system.
Allied Electronics doesn't even stock them any more, but for only $200
they'll order you a 33Mhz 68020 chip.
That's almost THREE times the cost of a 1Ghz Athlon right now.
(And that's their QUANTITY pricing. Ouch!)
Supply and demand at work.
