Until those newbies start wondering why their programs don't work, and
it turns out to be because they typed the wrong number of spaces, or
confused a tab for some spaces or vice versa.

Python is a rather nice language, but requires a newbie-unfriendly
editor like emacs to keep the programmer sane.

How about Ruby?
