Yes, with the right controller a PC 5.25" drive can read and write Apple
disks. The TrackStar card could do this, it was an Apple II emulator for the
IBM PC. It could use either real Apple disk drives or a PC drive. There was
also a card which used to be sold with Copy PC for copying protected disks.
It could read Apple 800KB disks on a PC 720KB drive, I don't know whether it
could handle 5.25" disks as well.

Like you I have heard of the Catweasel controller but I have had no
