It's used with European models of the //e to switch between the
American and the national character set and font.

Press Control-Reset. Reset alone does nothing.

If you have a Super Serial card in your Apple, you can use a Serial
extension cable with a plug on one end (for the Apple) and a Socket on
the other end (for the PC). Check your PC to see if you will need a
9-pin or a 25-pin Socket. Then set the jumper block on the Serial Card
to "Terminal". Do a web search for ADT122 to find a transfer program.
If you don't have a Serial Card, search the web for AP2222PC. This
program allows connecting a PC parallel printer port to the Apple
Gameport. You'll need to solder your own cable in this case.
