Your boards may be specifically made to tolerate water; they may have
to, because the older nasty chemical flux removers are banned or
impractical to use nowadays.  For an Apple II board, this is a bad
idea.  Those sockets will not tolerate water.  And water will be
trapped everywhere (including in the sockets); you are unlikely to be
able to dry it with a simple blow drier.

The way it used to be done is: you take the blank board, solder the
components on, then soak the board in a flux remover.
