IIRC, there were a couple of models like that which could be made to work "unofficially". This is from the hazy, dark cobwebs of my memory so I could be a bit off, but essentially you had to reduce the amount of RAM in these machines to 8 MB, at which point 24-bit addressing could be re-enabled in Mac OS 7.5.5 or earlier and the card would work. When I was researching this hack, I wrote down the names of a couple of models in which it was supposed to work; I'll have to dig that up again to sure.
