Since you lost a heap of keys at once, I would suspect a broken track or
cable. You should disassemble the keyboard use a continuity tester between
those keys and the connector. Especially look for a common track that is
used on all of those keys. If they are OK, test out the cable to the
motherboard. Failing that look for dry joints on the underside of the
motherboard especially near the keyboard encoder (or is that on the keyboard
?) and the connectors.

I have an Apple ][+ that I have had for a while and was working fine last
month, now the 1,2,a,s return and space bar keys stopped working.  I checked
connections from controller board to keyboard and all are good. I checked
switches on keyboard and all are good.  I reseated keyboard controller chip
and still have same problem.  Any help would be great! :(
