Yes, exactly. Think of Marinetti as "the dialer" and SAFE (or gw_ftp) as
the equivalent of whatever ftp app you use on the PC.
 
Marinetti is the TCP/IP stack for the IIGS that let's people connect to
the net using PPP or SLIP. After the connection is made, and the IIGS is
directly on the net, IIGS 'client application' software must be run on the
IIGS before anything can actually be done on the net.
 
What can be done, to date, is Telnet, e-mail, irc, IM, ftp, ping, finger,
and maybe one or two other things that escape my memory at the moment.
