Re: RIP: Apple Co-Founder Steve Jobs Dies

I was 13 years old when I got my first Apple II. I had worked with
other computer ... a trs-80, a vic-20.... but the apple IIe that I
purchased from my uncle as a hand-me-down was a *machine*.

It had a green screen monitor (which I thought was broken at the time
because it didn't display color), a Z-80 card, USCD pascal, two floppy
disk drives and an OKIData 81a dot-matrix printer.

That computer opened a whole new world for this socially inept 13 year
old. I learned to program. I learned the basics of communications. I
learned about peripherals. I became a 'computer geek'. I learned
skills that still serve me today. Some men learn to craft wood or
metal or stone - or become artists or musicians.

I learned to craft and create in the digital realm.

Apple Computer wasn't the only player in the market - not by a long
shot, but of all the computer companies today, I believe they had the
most impact - particularly with regard to form, design and function.

Steve Jobs was a visionary. Other companies look at computers and
software and think 'How do we train the users how to use them'. Steve
Jobs saw things differently. He wanted devices to be an extension of
how we think.

May god rest his soul. The world lost a true leader and visionary....
