And to me, but it appears to be so.

David Wilson says "It should be easy to identify these systems as the color
generator chip was removed and a small daughterboard put in its place." but
I can't see any daughterboard. Perhaps a daughterboard was used for ROM 1
systems but for the ROM 3 it was integrated into the motherboard?

Do you know where on the board I could check for this, or just check whether
I really have a modified IIgs?

I'm fairly sure this TV is not capable of displaying NTSC colour. It
displays black and white when fed from that IIe, but colour from my IIgs.

Yes, I find the monochrome setting has nicely shaded areas instead of the
stripes you see when displaying colour without a colour screen.

When in GR or HGR mode I get a blue border, blue background on the four
lines of text, but black background in the graphics area.

How can I change the background or border colour from Applesoft?
