Sequence of events:
1. Decide to install HyperCard IIgs to play around with.
2. Install it to my primary (boot) ProDOS partition using the Installer for
GS/OS 6.0.
3. Launch it, only to have it crash in an ugly mess halfway through loading.
4. Spend the next 3.5 hours determining that HyperCard IIgs 1.1 is horribly
incompatible with the Balloon 2.0 NDA.
5. Inactivate Balloon 2.0.
6. Launch HC, get a "system error $110a" about halfway through loading.
7. Launch HC from floppy. It's perfect.
8. Launch from primary ProDOS partition again. Same error.
9. Copy from HC Program floppy to secondary ProDOS partition.
10. Launch from secondary, get a "system error $1101" about halfway through
loading.
11. Use Optimizer 3.0 and Finder's built-in Verify to make sure nothing is
wrong with either partition. No problems found.
12. Copy from HC Program floppy to my HFS partition.
13. Launch from HFS, get all the way into the application to the point where
it is about to ask for your name, then crashes to debugger.
14. Copy bugfixed HFS driver to a fresh copy of the GS/OS 6.0.1 System
floppy.
15. Boot with System floppy, placing HC Program floppy in second 3.5" drive.
16. Launch HC from floppy. It's perfect.
17. Launch from primary and secondary ProDOS partitions and HFS partition,
get exactly the same errors/failures as described above.
18. Rip hair out. This can't be happening. :(
So, right now, the *only* way I can launch HyperCard IIgs 1.1 is from
floppy - hard drive, in ANY form, is no-go.
My IIgs system is a ROM 03 system with an 8MB Sirius RAM card and a Focus
hard drive running GS/OS 6.0.1 with all the popular bugfixes (GUPP 1.07,
HFSPatch, and Tool034). Can anyone else with a similar configuration see if
this happens on their system as well? I can't imagine it's a problem with
the Focus firmware, but I guess stranger things have happened.
Thanks for any help/repro/shoulder to cry on you may be able to provide =),
