Probably so.  I've only used 6.0.1 since 1/1/2000, so I hadn't noticed
this.

You should be able to set the date using the text mode (CDA) Control
Panel.  It only shows the low order two digits, but the system
interprets all dates in the range 00-39 as 2000-2039.

(The clock chip actually contains a 32-bit second counter, which is
divided down by the system software to produce a calendar date.  I don't
know what "epoch" is used by the IIgs, but given the evidence it is
probably 1/1/1940.)
