Be glad you didn't get a StyleWriter I to use with a IIGS, as you would
have had to spend lots of money on aspirin, to get rid of the headaches.
The printer does work with the IIGS, just not very well.
>> Does a Canon BJC-210 work with an Apple IIgs?
I just looked at the Canon web site, but couldn't find that model listed.
Without knowing any technical specs, I wouldn't want to venture a guess.
In any case, I publish Harmonie, a commercial software package that
provides GS/OS drivers for a number of different high quality printers
from different manufacturers. Below, I'll include a list of printer
drivers supplied with Harmonie.
But, keep in mind, Harmonie works with many, many, many more printers
than there are drivers. The reason for that is that a number of printers
emulate other printers, and that some manufacturers make all their new
printers backwards-compatible.
What that boils down to is that you can, for example, use Harmonie's
DeskJet 560c drivers with much newer DeskJet models. Or, you could use an
HP LaserJet driver with an Epson branded Action Laser.
Unless someone here is actually using a Canon BJC-210 with an Apple IIGS
and could tell us for sure, check the listings below. Then, determine
whether the BJC-210 is backwards compatible with the Canon 1080, and if
so, then it can be used with that driver. If it's not, you'd then need to
determine whether the Canon emulates any other printer. In other words,
some research is required.
Or, you could just do what 95% of the rest of us do...get a printer from
Hewlett-Packard, as the overwhelming majority of those are just plug and
print on the IIGS, provided you use the Harmonie drivers.
