I had this issue for a while, I just made sure I had a non conductive
insert between them. (I cut some cardboard to the appropriate size and
slid it in.) Although I must admit, my card never had to 'bend'
although I did have to squeeze the cardboard in. Maybe you could try a
thinner drive mechanism.
