Re: accellerated heaven! and SCSI card question

David,

I think I beat you on the bargains, my AHS card & User Manual only cost $5AU
(~$2.50US). I didn't even realize it's value until weeks later. It took me
over 6 months before I even used it because I didn't have any SCSI HDDs to
try it with.
Next you will want to know about the 4 dip-switches in the bottom left
corner. To save you asking...
the 1st is for DMA ON/OFF (ON=closed=down=default). The other 3 (2, 3 & 4)
set the SCSI address of the card, all ON=closed=down makes a SCSI address of
7 which is default. So basically set all dips down and set your SCSI HDD to
other than 7 and it should work.
There is a mod available where you can add a diode (1N4148 or 1N914) to the
card to provide termination power, which is needed for some SCSI
peripherals/ or terminators (can't remember which). Anyway I am not using
this mod on two different Quantum 40M & 80M drives from compact Macs and it
works fine. Also I don't use a terminator.
I will e-mail you a .gif diagram of the mod just in case you ever need it.
You may also need the AHS Utilities disk which came on both a 5.25 & 3.5
disk. I had to create my own as the software was missing from my card. You
can however use Advanced Disk Utilities or Chinook Utilities to set up a
HDD. ADU is included with System 6.0.1. (from memory)
