It's the Ensoniq I/O molex connector. The 7 pins provide a means
through which to directly input and record sound (using the built-in
ADC of the chip) and tap into the stereo output channels provided.
The built-in headphone jack ties all the channels together for
monaural output only.

Many third party cards plugged into the connector to provide the
IIgs with true stereo output and/or let the user easily record sound.
There are actually _8_ independent stereo channels to direct the
15-32 voices through, but no card ever supported more than 2
channels--left/right stereo.

Press Control-Apple-Option (or hold down the 'Option' key when you
power up) and choose selection '3'. Keep in mind though that this will
also reset all the battery-backed Control Panel settings to their
factory defaults.

A better method is to use Ninjaforce's 50/60 Hz Mode Switch
program. It won't reset your battery backed settings and it's only
temporary--when you power down the machine it'll start up with
your screen set at 60 Hz refresh next time it's switched on.

If you need it set permanently though, use the first method...
