If all else (ie, what's below) fails, try moving it to another slot (mine works in
slots 4-7 anyways).

Try setting the control panel (slots) to explicitly boot from the slot the ramfast
is in. (That should do to begin with anyways).
The way it works with my board (a later revision) is that I have to hold down
the zero key during bootup. Then it takes me automatically into the
utility program (akin to a BIOS thing on a PC), from which it finds,
partitions and formats the drive. (see the instructions). There's an option
in that utility to make the ROM disk appear or not to the IIgs. It should be
set to yes, so that when you do install GSOS to the fresh disk, you'll be
able to copy the drivers off of the Rom disk.
If you get as far as the setup and the card can't find the drive, that's
another can of worms, but we'll cross that bridge if we get to it.
Hope this sets you in the right direction.
