If the power was shut off while the computer was writing to a diskette or
hard disk, the diskette or hard disk probably has garbage written to one or
more sectors. That could make it unbootable.
Your friend could try booting some bootable game, etc. from diskette to
verify that the computer is running okay.
As RPM says, more information-- like the computer model and the kind of
disk that won't boot-- could help.
