I had the same problem when I first tried to use a CD-ROM drive
attached to the RamFAST my hard drive was connected to. I think that
the RamFAST just doesn't work well with CD-ROM drives.
What I ended up doing was installing an Apple High Speed SCSI card in
the same machine and hooking the CD-ROM drive up to it and it has been
working fine ever since. This also allowed me to repartition the hard
drive connected to the RamFAST so that it now has 11 ProDOS partitions
and 1 HFS partition. If I ever want to hook up any of my other SCSI
drives, I just hook them up the the AHS SCSI cards chain and I don't
need to bother with making some of my hard drive partitions inactive
to be able to use the other drives.
