     There should be no special problem with swapping in a ROM 3 board.

     Something that helps is ripping out the metal shielding on the bottom,
back, and top. This removes a shorting hazard, improves airflow, and makes
the case easier to clean. A possible downside is that interference with
radio/TV may increase-- so, you may not want to pull the shielding if you
live in a dorm or apartment.
