Tiger Learning Computer

Looks like I'll just send this back and get my money back. I've saved to video
tape screen samples that show what does work on this, but that's very little.

The welcoming voice and screen work, as does the desktop interface, built in
BASIC and the communication module, but that's about it. The cartridges lock
up the computer, so using the stripped down AW4.3 (word processor only) and the
rest of the program cartridges is out.

What did I think of the computer? Well, the keyboard really is terrible. It's
a little better than a TIMEX 1000 membrane keyboard, but not much. 25% of my
keystrikes just don't register.

The color desktop interface is no replacement for DeskTop/MouseDesk. Yes,
color is nice, but, like the welcoming screen and voice, it doesn't add to your
being able to DO more (identifying key folders, for example). It's just there
getting in the way of reading words that are selected. Have you ever noticed
how easy it is to read inversed black on white and white on black lettering,
but, say in Dazzle Draw, it is awful to read inverted colored text?

The mouse worked fine on the desktop. It has a different connector. It looks
like an ADB connector until inspected closer.

Weight and size wise, you're better off with an Apple //c. It's the drive that
adds most of the weight. Besides, you'd have a keyboard that works.

If I keep it, it will be for a reduced price. I'd like to take apart the
battery backupped RAM cartridge and see if it could be used to create a large
RAM interface for the Apple IIe.
