Money isn't "inherently valuable" -- it's valuable only as long as
its value is recognized by others.  And money can dramatically lose
its value.  As an example, consider Turkey which has had a dramatic
inflation during recent decades.  In my drawer I have a 1 Lira coin
from the 1970'ies, which back then was worth approximately 5 US
cents.  Today 1 Lira is worth about 0.0001 US cents, and the smallest
valid Turkish coins today are the 5000 Lira coins....  now, please
tell me the "inherent value" of 1 Turkish Lira.....
