Re: Backup Copies
Well, if it comes down to a matter of ethics. I would have to say that the
absolute sovereign on this issue is the creator: the creator of the universe that
is. Personally, I believe that all buildings have a builder and the most
complicated building is the building we live in. Logically, I cannot look at the
Empire State Building and say that it came to be as a process of evolution.
And it would be an infinitesimal stretch of my imagination to say that the
building I live in evolved.
But getting back to the point, I don't think we should become pharisees about the
matter. Sometimes laws are not a benefit to man, but a hindrance. When King
David of the Old Testament ate the bread of the temple, which was made only for
the priesthood, he was not condemned. And so the Messiah (the christ of the Old
Testament) pointed out himself. Read the account for yourself in the New
Testament. David was from the tribe of Judah, not from the tribe of Levi. The Old
Testament said the shewbread was only for the tribe of Levi. But David was
hungry, he took the bread, and he was not condemned. A levitical law was ignored
by the law of common sense. The Lord said: "Man was not made for the law, but the
law for man."
What's the point here. Some laws are not applicable in all situations; and the
creator expects us to use common sense. But then on the other hand, he expects us
to have a good testimony in the community. Judge for yourself. If the copyright
owners don't care, or don't care to respond to requests about their copyright and
publish more software, then I would say they don't care. Besides, it's a waste of
good apple if it just sets and rots. I'd rather eat it than let it set and rot.
Make your own judgment.
