I thought so. My main aim was to run ProDOS on the ][+.

I have an AST Sprintdisk 1MB RAM card and an Apple 1MB Memory
Expansion Card. I tried both of them in Slot#0 and they appear to
work but don't provide me with the necessary 16K I need for a base 64K
RAM. As you stated above, these cards probably don't "emulate" a
language card. A pity.

I did have a TranWarp // accelerator card which I used in Slot#0. It
provided an extra 128K RAM and emulated a language card.
Unfortunately that card died on me only recently so I'm stuck with a
][+ at 48K RAM.
