Sandy, when I log in with my II (8 or 16 bit) on my shell account, I use
the menu to go to IRC, where I'm asked to give an IRC server. I use
irc.emory.edu or irc.prison.net. Those are some of the efnet servers
that are available. If I'm using my Windoze machine, I use mIRC
(shareware) and it has the option of using dalnet, efnet, undernet, etc.
On Macs you can use IRCle or Homer. There may be more Mac IRC clients,
but I don't know of any.

I hope this helps.

One thing that would be nice would be an IRC client for the GS. I've
been told that they are small programs and don't require much overhead.
mIRC for Windoze is the product of one programmer in England.

The one channel that seems to have traffic is #appleiigs, but not
everyone there is really interested in the Apple II anymore. Hopefully
those who are will make use of the channel, and those who have moved on
will move on, or renew their interest in the II
