The GS RAM III from AE may be the best 4MB expansion memory board ever
produced for the IIgs. It is very compact, produces little heat, and uses less
power than other expansion memory cards. The one down side is that the Zip
package RAM IC's are not commonly available. Here's a FAQs snip which may help

017- Where can I get the "Zip" package chips to expand my AE GS-RAM III
     memory Expansion card to 4MB?

The Applied Engineering GS-RAM III uses 20-pin "Zip" package 1M x 4 DRAMs
(NEC D424400V-80 or OKI H5144024-70). A few other Apple II memory cards also
use relatively rare Zip package RAM. As of July 2000, you could find the chips
you need at M.C. Howard Electronics ( http://www.mchoward.com/; orders:
1-800-490-6896).

As of September 1999, you could find the NEC chip at Spi Semiconductor
(orders: 818-349-4495; http://www.spisemi.com/index.html ). For other
suppliers, a fairly good try is a current issue of Computer Shopper magazine.

Whenever you order these memory IC's, be sure to confirm that the chips
are, in fact, in the Zip package.
