Modem and Apple IIe

Hello,

   Is there a max modem speed that an Apple IIe can use?  I'm guessing it's
probably related to the serial card used, but I don't really know much about
the serial cards for an Apple IIe (just started working with them).  There seem
to be two kinds, a plain old Apple serial card, and the Super Serial Card II...
is there a difference between the speeds of modem they can handle?
