     The "@" is not present (as "@") on all keyboards. Your friend may be able to
output the "@" code by pressing Shift-2. (The "2" key shifted is a common place
for "@".)

     Entering the "@" code may not display "@" because display characters vary
according to language choice. Your friend may need to switch to an "American" or
"US" or "English" char set to show the "@".
